Pop Hearts

4popheartsHere’s a set of Andy Warhol style pop hearts that I made inspired in part by the Pet Shop Boys Pop Art cover.

 The first heart is fierce.

The second heart enjoys the taste of pop.

The third heart’s in pain.  It needs more pop

And the last heart’s got Madonna and Britney Spears in its eyes as it eats Michael Jackson and eyes Angelina Jolie.

At least that’s what it means to me.  What do you think?

Paparazzi!

May 31, 2009 at 10:10 pm (music) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Lady Gaga’s newest music video Paparazzi was released!  I think its both awesome and scary.  It reminded me of what BBC said of her in the review of The Fame.   They said with songs as cold as Love Game, Lady Gaga was number one on their list of artists capable of murder.  Although the Minnie Mouse outfit and sunglasses were awesome, she has one of the most evil smiles I’ve seen.  In part because of the lipstick.  The vid is framed as a old style Hollywood movie.  There are a lot of awesome costumes and costume changes with some shocking moments so prepare yourself and enjoy Paparazzi.  And of course the teacup makes an appearance.

One thing I learned from this video is not to accept drinks from Lady Gaga.  What do you think about the music video?

Futuristic-Electro Pop

April 7, 2009 at 3:45 am (fashion, music) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

The future is here or at least pop wants you to think that. The music sounds cool, but unfortunately it seems everyone’s copping the same style.  And it’s impossible to tell who started this trend and who the copiers are.   Another thing about electro pop is the singer doesn’t necessarily have to be able to sing in order for to sound good.  A good example of this is Britney Spears.  She came back on the cusp of the electro-pop trend and I think this type of music is good for her.  I actually like a few of her songs.  That hasn’t happened for me since the beginning of her career.

The trend is full of pantless looks, awesome shades, shininess, face make up, leggings, catsuits and awesome hair.  Look at Lady Gaga, Keri Hilson and Ciara.

Keri Hilson in “Return the Favor

 Ciara “Go Girl

 Christina Aguilera “Keeps gettin’ better

Of course men are on this electo pop wave too

 Kanye West

There seems to be a real push for female electro-pop singers.  So Kanye’s kind of out numbered right now not that he’s alone. Personally I like electro-pop, but I like real instruments better, so whenever I hear these songs with real instruments I love them even better.  What do you think about this new electro-pop trend?

Cheaphobia

April 2, 2009 at 3:39 pm (fashion) (, , , , , , , , , )

Lately I’ve developed something I like to call cheaphobia.  I can’t stand cheap things anymore, but its not like I can afford more expensive things so I thing I’m kinda screwed unless I can make a lot of money somehow.  I always buy cheap, because that’s what I can afford and still have money.  For example I buy $20 shades instead of $100 ones or $20 watches selling for 7.  And cheap watches are never good.  This winter half of the watches were falling apart in the store.  How could they expect people to buy them?  And even so, the watch I ended up with has problems although I can still wear it.  As for cheap sunglasses…well I would like to look at the more expensive ones to compare them.  I’ve never actually looked closely at nice shades, watches, or clothes for that matter.  I hope they are better quality because a lot of stuff in stores now days are crap.  It makes me wonder if it was always like this and I never noticed or that I’ve become picky.
