Gagavision & Fundamentalists

April 7, 2011 at 3:49 pm (pop culture) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Gaga brings back Gagavision after a long awaited interval.  Wondering about the song playing when she’s looking at the Get out of Hell free card? Its Ladytron Seventeen. Lady Gaga listens to Ladytron lol.

Ok so more importantly what good does a Get out of Hell free card do? Like does that give her a free license to do whatever she wants because if she was sent there she can get out? Thats a real smart fundamentalist for you… A fundamentalist protester once gave me a billion dollar bill which I’m definitely keeping because who wouldn’t want a billion dollar bill?

One Billion Dollar Bill

Whose the guy on the bill?  Maybe their leader? Who knows.

I feel like a Monster…Monster’s are taking over

June 2, 2010 at 7:35 pm (music, pop culture) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I was listening to Rihanna Distubia today and that line “I feel like a monster,” made me think. There has been a lot of monsters mentioned in music lately and the talk of monsters always reminds of that send in the Little Mermaid and all the poor unfortunate souls.  Does listening to music about monsters or being called a little monster make you think of those green things grabbing for anything they can hold on to or make you feel like them? Or is it just me?

Anyways besides Disturbia, there’s Monster by Lady Gaga on the Fame Monster and all all her fans are Little Monsters. Then Neyo just did a song called Beautiful monster. And I would say that’s a lot of monsters in pop music right now.

Then there’s the appearance of the Big Bad Wolf in Monster and Taio Cruz Break your Heart, would you say they were the same? But that’s another matter.

Gaga’s Ice Cream

April 18, 2010 at 11:24 pm (food, music, pop culture) (, , , , , , , , )

Here’s some ice cream I seriously want.  GaGa Ice cream.  Its advertised as smooth as ice cream, fresh as sherbert and one taste and you’ll go GaGa!  And seriously the site has a side ad for great gift ideas for Lady Gaga’s fans.  And its says things like order GaGa online. I think it might be some combo of ice cream and sherbert which sounds absolutely amazing!

I wonder if its Dirty Ice Cream? I wonder if Lady Gaga knows about this? What do you think?

Recognize these songs?

February 16, 2010 at 10:25 am (commercial, music) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Don’t feel bad if you only recognize these songs, which are awesome, only by the commercials.  Neither Goldfrapp or Empire of the Sun have made it in the US yet, but their songs have shown up in our commercials.

Vizio: Empire of the Sun “We the People”

Gameboy: Goldfrapp “Strict machine”  This is the ad from which I found out about Goldfrapp.  I just had to find out what the song was and who sang it.

Target: “Fly Me Away” 2006

Comics in Songs

October 23, 2009 at 12:56 pm (comics, music) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Here are a few songs that have some mention or connection to comics.  Comics aren’t just used for the movies (which recently there have been a lot of comics turned into movies), they’re in songs too.  I think all three of these are good songs.

Feel it in the Air  Beanie Sigel Mentions spidey sense

Snoopy vs. The Red Baron The Royal Guardians  from 1967.

Transformer Gnarls Barkley Cee-lo’s got a real alter ego.  Ever hear his other songs when he’s not Gnarls Barkley?

Go go gadget Gospel  Gnarls Barkley  Inspector Gadget

If you have anymore comics in songs references please comment and tell me what you think about these songs.  I know there are a lot out there and I only listed a few.

Disturbia Lyrics disturbing

October 3, 2009 at 8:54 pm (music) (, , , , , )

It wasn’t Rihanna who wrote the lyrics to Distubia.

What’s wrong with me?
Why do I feel like this?
I’m going crazy now

No more gas, in the red, can’t even get it started
Nothing heard, nothing said, can’t even speak about it
On my life, on my head, don’t wanna think about it
Feels like I’m going insane, yeah

It’s a thief in the night to come and grab you
It can creep up inside you and consume you
A disease of the mind, it can control you
It’s too close for comfort

Put on your pretty lies, you’re in the city of wonder
Ain?t gon? play nice, watch out you might just go under
Better think twice, your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise

Your mind?s in disturbia, it’s like the darkness is light
Disturbia, am I scaring you tonight?
Disturbia, ain?t used to what you like
Disturbia, disturbia

Faded pictures on the wall, it’s like they talking to me
Disconnecting on calls, the phone don?t even ring
I gotta get out or figure this sh** out
It’s too close for comfort, oh

It’s a thief in the night to come and grab you
It can creep up inside you and consume you
A disease of the mind it can control you
I feel like a monster, oh

Put on your pretty lies, you’re in the city of wonder
Ain?t gon? play nice, watch out you might just go under
Better think twice, your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise

Your mind?s in disturbia, it’s like the darkness is light
Disturbia, am I scaring you tonight?
Disturbia, ain’t used to what you like
Disturbia, disturbia, disturbia

Release me from this curse I’m in
Trying to maintain but I’m struggling
If you can’t go-o-o
I think I’m gonna ah, ah, ah, ah

Put on your pretty lies, you’re in the city of wonder
Ain?t gon? play nice, watch out you might just go under
Better think twice, your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise

Disturbia, it’s like the darkness is light
Disturbia, am I scaring you tonight?
Disturbia, ain’t used to what you like
Disturbia, disturbia

Does anyone else found it at least a little disturbing that Chris Brown wrote these lyrics?

Awesome Voice

September 20, 2009 at 3:14 am (music) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

I recently found that Empire of the Sun is awesome and not just their song walking on a dream.  At the beginning and of Empire of the Sun’s music video for Standing on the Shore there is an awesome voice like James Earl Jones.  If a guy had that voice it would seriously be like an axe commercial, but with other guys chancing him too, and not just gay guys.  The voice is that awesome.  The rest of the video is weird but cool.

When Love Takes Over

June 11, 2009 at 11:02 pm (music) (, , , , , , , , , , )

There’s more sampling in Kelly Rowland and David Guetta’s  When Love Takes Over.  This time its Coldplay’s Clocks.  Only think is it sounds very much like the Wii DDR version of Clocks which is really dancy and good, but its diffently not as good as the original.   I didn’t think Kelly had anymore in her, but this song is catchy. I think her last hit was Stole in 2002.

Flashback Connection: Hung up

May 21, 2009 at 1:32 am (music) (, , , , , , , , )

Madonna sampled Abba’s song Gimme Gimme Gimme (A man after midnight) in Hung Up.  She used a lot of disco influences in the song and video.  Madonna said she had watched Saturday Night Fever over 20 times in order to perfect a wini roll (At least I think she said wini roll).  I think that’s a bit much.  I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I plan to,  so I’m not going to question her state of mind.  Although this is Madonna so her state of mind is…always some where else.  She’s supposed to come out with another album soon.  I’m looking forward to whatever she’s coming out with.  Hope it’s good. Wonder what influences she’ll use this time.

Barbies hmm…

April 8, 2009 at 1:59 am (music) (, , , , , )

The Katy Perry’s Ur so Gay music vid uses barbies.  I wondered why until the end of the vid.   Besides the barbie scenes Katy Perry is playing her guitar in an extremely colorful background in which the clouds have smiley faces that frown toward the end.

A lot of people say this song is homophobic, but I don’t think it warrants such a strong word.  Granted the use of gay as an insult is not good, but the song goes along the lines of this guy is a pretty boy and puts on things like eyeliner.

She could have used a better phrase (which would have made it a different song), but then again music has to be controversal to get publicity. So what do you think about this song and music video? And the use of barbies?
