Phone App Bubble?

February 7, 2011 at 4:04 pm (technology) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Remember the .com bubble that burst after the 90s? Investors were just throwing their money at dotcom startups, but not all of them were good.  This created a bubble that eventually burst. Of course in the 90s it seems like everyone had money and then afterwards…not so much…

I’m hoping that doesn’t happen with phone apps. Everyone’s jumping on that band wagon like flies to sweat.  Every company’s getting their own app and then we’ve got ones like Instagram and Picpiz  that are turning into legit or at least semilegit businesses. Both of  these apps are edit photos and are bringing in the bucks from investors. I don’t mean to pick on photo apps but I’m not sure how profitable they are, especially if they’re free.

What do you think? Are we creating a phone app bubble that will eventually burst or are apps a new way of doing business?

Willy Wonka’s popping up

April 21, 2010 at 10:41 am (commercial, technology) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Willy Wonka’s been popping up in commercials recently.  The tunnel scene was used in a Lost commercial and the song Pure Imagination is used in an AT&T.  One is used for the creepiness, the other for the power of the imagination sparked in the original Willy Wonka. They were released around the same time.  Coincidence? And do you like the commercials?
