Unicorns are appearing all over the place these days in anime and music videos. There’s Gundam Unicorn. I haven’t a clue what the unicorn is about since the last Gundam I watched was Gundam Seed. Then there’s Ke$ha with her strange unicorn head people in the video for Blow. Although these have unicorns they’ve lost the meaning of unicorns, Lady Gaga uses the symbolism of unicorns in the Born this Way vid. Gaga’s been claiming she loves unicorns because of My Little Pony and that she identifies with them.
So what do Unicorns symbolize? That Gaga can identify with them and has them associated with Born This Way the song and album? Today unicorns are mostly depicted as horses with a single horn while traditional unicorns had a billy goat’s beard, a lion’s tail and cloven hooves like I drew in the above picture. Unicorns are normally associated with purity and grace and could only be caught by a virgin. Unicorns were prominent in heraldic symbolism and were often shown with a collar and a broken chain, indicating that they have freed themselves from bondage and cannot be taken again. Unicorns often have the power to heal physical and emotional wounds.
I think its the symbolism of freedom that unicorns represent and the purity of thought & emotion (not necessarily chastity) that makes the unicorn perfect for Born this Way. What do you think?
Tsk Tsk Natalia Kills vid for Zombie is cool, but why the similarities to Diva? The vid seems for relevant to Zombie. For one, what’s a Diva doing blowing up a car full of manikins? But hey whatever floats your boat.
Natalia Kills Zombie
What do you think of the vids? Too similar?
Nicki Minaj samples Annie Lennox No more I love yous in the the song Your Love and the vid features kunoichi, female ninja, being trained by a samurai. Another girl falls for the same samurai and then there’s a huge fight. It features plenty of Japanese inspired clothing. I think the vids really awesome and I like the song.
Neyo’s Beautiful Monster has a really good vid considering the song is only mostly ok. It has a video gamish beat that’s really catchy but the lyrics and singing kind of throw me off. Well really just the way he says “Beautiful Monster” but I do like the song more or less. For the Vid Neyo was definitely watching Smooth Criminal and maybe a little anime since he does energy attacks.
Enrique Iglesias’ song I like it has a little Lionel Richie All Night Long (all night) in it. And when I hear this song I just want to party and dance.
What do you think about these songs and vids?
Yes I’m obsessed with Lady Gaga and I hope you like these cartoons.
This is a commercial I made for the Q94 Create the next commercial contest. It took forever to make this commerical. I had from the end of February, when I found out about the contest, to mid March to create a commercial on my own which I’ve never done before. I took me a while to figure out what to do. I have barely any experience doing any of this except the drawing part. And I didn’t know if I could actually use hit music so I made my own and you can probably tell I’ve never done that before.
You can vote here for the winnerhttp://www.q94radio.com/pages/commercialvoting.html. I’m contestant #5 but their not showing my vid right now. Argg…The winner gets their commercial aired on TV in the Richmond area and may get the chance to meet a Q94 artist and see them make their next music video. I know who I would pick if I won and if she was on the list, Lady Gaga. Wouldn’t it be awesome to see her make her next video? Of course if I won, got there and fainted I don’t think I would be seeing much of anything.
Who’s got the craziest smile? Lady Gaga, Beyonce, or Lindsay?
I love this scene in the paparazzi video. Lady Gaga looks so scary here, but in a cute way which in a way makes it worse.
Sorry for this little tiny pic of Beyonce, but it was the best I could find (the most relevent not the best of Beyonce). If you want to see the real smile watch the last few seconds of the video for ring the alarm.
Lindsay may just be cracked out, but sometimes she just looks plain demented.
I wonder if Lady gaga watches much anime or if this is a coincidence. The cross in the monster as part of the title font and the big anime eyes in the music video. They were so freaky. I thought they came out in the beginning like they’re vampires or creatures born of the abyss.
Also in the vid there’s the attack of the Alexander Mcqueen monster. She had premiered Bad Romance at the Alexander Mcqueen show so I guess that’s understandable. And that polar bear dress was fierce. There’s also a bit of East European feel to it to go along with that Russian sound that she uses in the song. The only thing I thought was really scary was that cat. I don’t know why but it freaked me out.
And the end is a surprise so if you haven’t seen it I won’t spoil it where strangely she looks like Amy Winehouse. I love the vid. What do you think?
I found a cool new group (okay so Perez Hilton found them before me but I did find them on his site) called Fan Death. I know it sounds like some weird metal group, but they’re actually a two girl group that sounds kind of like Bat for Lashes and therefore sound like the cure so they sound awesome. Not only do they sound awesome, but their video for Reunited is as well. The colors are vibrant and the actions of the people in the video are as quirky and bubbly as the song.
Anyone else thinks that Dandi looks just like Snow White? And the outfit was so cute I couldn’t resist drawing it.
The extent to how true “Video Killed the Radio Star” probably couldn’t be considered in 1979, the year the Buggles produced this song along with the first video shown on mtv.
Its gotten to the point that the audio has become visual. An artist has to do a video in order to sell their songs. A song without a video is now like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with no bread. And of course in music videos people are not willing to look at ugly or fat so if the artist’s not hot, especially for women, their going to have a harder time making it which means we’re probably missing out on some good music because the percentage of beautiful people to not so beatiful is small.
Its also gotten to the point that some songs just don’t sound good until the video is watched. I didn’t really like Black Eyed Peas Boom Boom Pow until I watched the video. I’ve liked it a lot since. Lady Gaga’s paparazzi is the same for a lot of people from what I’ve heard. Personally I liked the song ok and liked it a lot better after seeing the video.
Robbie Williams new album is Reality killed the video star. Thing is both are on video and both are scripted. So can reality (shows) kill the video star? Although it does seem that lately more people are getting famous from reality (shows, youtube, etc) than through movies and non reality shows. I hope reality doesn’t kill the video star cuz reality kind of sucks.
What do you think about video killing the radio star or reality killing the video star?
I recently found that Empire of the Sun is awesome and not just their song walking on a dream. At the beginning and of Empire of the Sun’s music video for Standing on the Shore there is an awesome voice like James Earl Jones. If a guy had that voice it would seriously be like an axe commercial, but with other guys chancing him too, and not just gay guys. The voice is that awesome. The rest of the video is weird but cool.
