To Draw Muhammad or Not?

June 9, 2010 at 9:51 pm (art, comics) (, , , , , , , , , )

I say not. Its just being a bully.  Just because Christians draw and paint Jesus all the time and sometimes in parody, doesn’t mean we should do the same for Muhammad. Yeah he’s a man, but no one was interested in drawing him until they found out it made Muslims mad and then we had that Draw Muhammad day. I’m a bit late on this, but this topic keeps popping up so I’m not terribly late.

What do you think about this and did you draw Muhammad on Draw Muhammad day?

Cartoonified

cartoonme

With the magic of photoshop I was about to transform a normal photo of myself into a cartoon version of me like they’ve been doing in some of the commercials recently.  If you remember what commercials please tell me.

And no I’m not obsessed with myself but I’m the only person I have full rights over my picture and I don’t have any models because I don’t have money like that.  So like many artists I will keep doing self portraits until I can get someone to pose for me or something. Look Vincent Van Gogh did a ton of himself.  We share the same birthday among other things.

Too much Information

October 29, 2009 at 9:02 pm (art, music) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

too much information

I wanted to insert Duran Duran’s vid for too much information in the TV that the girl from just dance is watching.  I’m not technologically inclined enough to take a video and put it into a still picture, but I do what I can.  So basically I just drew the girl that’s in just dance (not exactly as you should be able to see), but a cartoon version looking at a picture of Duran Duran’s single for Too much Information. She comes into the vid at around 3:00.

Here’s Duran Duran’s Too much Information

Sure the song is from the early 90s so its references are TV and MTV instead of the internet.  But really if a song about too much information should come out again it would be now. I think there is too much information to process.  We could all end up like those bing commercials in which people have search engine symdrome with all the blogs, twitter, gossip, and news that we try to process.  And yes I’m saying process like a computer does, because that’s what people are becoming information processing machines aka computers.

What do you think? Are people becoming computers?

Monster Ball Tour

October 16, 2009 at 11:44 am (art, fashion, music) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Lady Gaga Announces 'The Monster Ball'

I’ve been talking about Lady Gaga a lot recently, but hey she’s about to release the Fame Monster (sounds kind of scary huh?) and doing awesome things like starting the “first ever pop-electro opera,”  the Monster Ball.  She’s recently released the poster for her tour (without Kanye West).  She announce that her opening is  to be none other than Kid Cudi.  I guess she wanted a quirky rapper to go on tour with her or one of the rappers from the I make her say”I poke her face” song which also included Kanye and Common.  I do like Kid Cudi although I’m not a fan of this song.  I just think its stupid.  I like his song Day N Nite and how the vid includes The Wizard of Oz and Prince references and how half of the vid is a cartoon. What do you think of Kid Cudi going on  tour with Lady Gaga?

Do you like the Monster Ball poster?  I love it.   It looks really modelly (that’s not a word). She’s wearing the awesomeness she premiered on SNL.

Make sure you don’t confuse the name of the tour with the movie Monster’s Ball starring Halle Berry.  They have nothing in common except the name, as far as I know.

The tour sounds exciting.  I want to go.  What about you?

Rainbow Brite’s Makeover :-(

October 16, 2009 at 11:14 am (cartoons, fashion) (, , , , , , , , )

Remember Rainbow Brite, the 80s character and her friends with the super bright clothes?  Well she’s getting a makeover.  I guess that comes with getting older, because that’s what she’s doing getting a little older.  Now she looks like barbie meets anime with a big head and slim waist, kind of like a Bratz doll.

Now the boys are gone, because with the bright colors they they were wearing I guess someone was afraid they were too “colorful” and I thought we were trying to move toward some type of equality. Guess not.  Boys can wear bright colors if they want.  But what’s Brite supposed to do now that she’s probably into boys now that she’s older and they are gone?

Some Cartoon News

October 14, 2009 at 11:15 am (cartoons) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Recently there’s been some crossovers between the real world and the cartoon world and some updates which has provided some interesting cartoon news.

Marge Simpson graces the cover of playboy. She’s looking good for whatever age she is.  I don’t think she’s aged a day since the beginning of the show.

And Sponge Bob plans his wedding to Sandy.  This pic wasn’t drawn by me, but I thought it portrays the mood of their wedding well. Sponge’s getting married and the guests are out of this world! They include   Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, LeBron James, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Will Ferrell, Craig Ferguson, and Rosario Dawson.

Winnie the Pooh sequel. There’s an otter and Eeyore’s” more proactive”? What’s that supposed to mean?

What do you think about this?
